CV=ipad

The winner of a Creative CV competition, the first run by Staffordshire University’s Careers Centre, has been announced. John Ellis, a 3rd year Graphic Design student, is delighted that his bold CV poster designed to ‘introduce a small name with big ideas’ caught the eye of the judges andlanded him the prize of an iPad.

Mark Kent, Head of Staffordshire University Careers Centre, said that the event had been a great success, attracting over 50 entries from a range of creative disciplines and all of a very high standard. He said ‘Our panel of six judges, drawn from the local creative industries had a hard time picking the overall winner and the standard of entries was so high that we decided to award a further three prizes to runners up’. All of the judges agreed that having a CV that stands out definitely increases a student’s chance of getting noticed in a highly competitive graduate labour market. The Careers Centre team are now hoping to make the competition an annual event.

John will be presented with his prize on the opening night of the Art & Design Show on 10th June at the Stoke campus of Staffordshire University by Pro Vice Chancellor Rosy Crehan.

We are very grateful to our judging panel, left to right: Steve Cranston, Lilac Films, Joanne Hine, PlinkFizz, Tony Altham, AdGiftsOnline Limited, Amanda McDonald, Yes Agency, Matthew Rice, Emma Bridgewater, Johnathan Scane, Jackson Hammond.
