Stoke City to New York City.

With just a few weeks into the new semester and we were off to the big apple!!!!  Graphic Design and Cartoon & Comic Arts students crossed the pond to visit New York!  On the agenda was Times Square, MoMA, Central Park, Empire State Bldng, Staten Isl Ferry, Greenwich Village, New York High Line, Forbidden Planet, Broadway, Ground Zero.....but more importantly New York Comic Convention and visits to some amazing Graphic Design studios!

Bandujo, Madwell, Watson & Co and Hello Monday  played host to Graphic Design students and imparted some excellent knowledge, experience and insight into their work, studios and what they consider to be the important aspects for students to consider when compiling their portfolios.

Many thanks go out to these studios who spent valuable time, energy, enthusiasm and passion in their talks and presentations which were extremely informative, honest, thorough and reflective of the dedication to their craft and expertise. Their guidance and advice was well received - so much so that some students are considering moving to New York on completion of their degree!!!

An amazing trip which we hope to repeat soon!

TIME to celebrate!

Following  the success of our students entries into the Picturing Time Competition - the Awards evening was held at Sotheby's on New Bond Street on a very hot Thursday evening in London.

The extremely well - attended event was a great platform for the students' work and a chance to network with the judges, fellow students and members of the Clockmakers company. Quails eggs with seaweed, bruschetta and Champagne were the order of the day and glasses weren't allowed to run dry!

Craig Palmer received a cheque for £1,000 and Level 4 student Conrad Lewis and Level 5 student Kate Parkes, provided support and applause! A request of the submission was that the work could be placed up for sale. Both Craig and Kate wasted no time (get it?!) in securing 3- figure deals for their work, with additional interest/offers also going to Jessie (Sijie) Huang's photographic collage piece.

Here's to next year's winning students !!!   (we seem to do quite well at this!)
