Official Press Release:

By 8.30a.m. on Thursday 19th June,  the Cadman Student Space was buzzing with over 40 employers from the local creative industries listening to over 50 students from the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies practising their networking skills.

The University Careers Centre, working closely with FACT staff, organised the event and were delighted with the turnout, especially for such an early start! The employers, 40 in total, represented a diverse mix of companies from design agencies to ceramics manufacturers, animation, digital design and film production companies. Over a breakfast buffet, the employers talked about their work and businesses and then listened as students described their own creative talents and passions.  Feedback so far from the employers present shows that they really enjoyed taking part in the event and were impressed with the quality and enthusiasm of the students they met. Lots of the employers also took up the offer of a student guided tour of the degree shows.

During the event the winners of the 4th Annual Creative CV competition were also announced. The competition was a great success, attracting over 40 entries from a range of creative disciplines and all of a very high standard. William Teal, a final year Graphic Design student, was delighted when his beautifully etched ruler caught the eye of the judges and landed him the prize of the ipad. Joe Kaloczi, Advertising and Brand Management, Kate Parkes, Graphic Design and Laura Mellor, Illustration were all runners up with their creative entries, with each receiving £100 in Amazon vouchers. We are incredibly grateful to our judges, David Patrick, Yes Agency, Johnathan Scane, Johnathan Scane Design, Andrew Hope, Hope Creative, Donna Peebles, Churchill China, Grant Mitchell, Transmission Creative, Sophie Attwood, Steelite and Chris Cotterill, Envisage for picking all our winners. We also want to say a very big thank you to our sponsors – the Yes Agency and Jackson Hammond Design for their generous support, without which this competition would have been very short on prizes.
